Homework is intended for practice of the concepts that we have been learning in school. Homework is written on the board daily, and I will make every effort to have it posted on the homework page at the end of the day. All school and homework should be written in your school assignment notebook. Homework can be checked online at www.stjohnsoxnard.com/staff.cfm. Do not use the website as your primary source for getting the homework as it may not always work or may not be updated.
All homework should be done at home or during specified class times. Homework is due at the beginning of the day. It is your responsibility to make sure you do the work and turn the work in. I can not give you credit for what you do not turn in.
If you have questions on your homework, it is your responsibility to make sure you get them answered before you leave school. Some possible times to get questions answered are during your recess or by appointment before school or after school. Throughout the year there will be times for special tutoring, so take advantage of those opportunities as they come around.
It is imperative to make sure that your name is on every piece of paper. If you do forget to put your name on the paper the following scale will be applied to your work.

* The work must be turned back in with the proper name on it.
The missing assignment policy for the seventh grade follows the school policy. It is as follows:
Any assignment not turned in when it is due is considered missing.
Any assignment completed less than 50% is considered a missing assignment.
All missing assignments are to be completed. They must be turned in the following day with a missing assignment notice attached and signed by a parent or guardian.
There will be times throughout the year where you will have to do some work over breaks. You will have ample opportunity to work on those assignments before and/or after the breaks.
Literature Books
I am in the process of updating the classroom set of books used. There will be times throughout the year where the students will need to purchase books for literature class. When these times occur I will purchase the books and the students will need to bring in money for the books. Typically the books cost between $4.99 and $6.99. If you have any questions or concerns regarding books, please speak with me in person to discuss them.
The students are required to do book reports during the year. I have some books in my library that the students may choose from. Book report books must meet a certain page limit and reading level. If you have any questions regarding certain books, please speak with me. Make sure you check the book report guidelines for the certain criteria to follow.
